Devin Thomas - Michigan State

WR Profiles 070901-devin-thomas-points-at-sky

Height:6’1"
Weight: 216 lbs
40 time: 4.4

Pros:
-Speed
-YAC
-Vision
-Versatility

Cons:
-Inexperience
-Route Running
-Raw
-Blocking

I don’t like putting a one year stat machine #1 at WR, but I am left with no choice after the other options all have
injury concerns. Thomas however is no slouch. He possesses great speed, and his YAC ability is unparalleled. He will
break tackles or out run players, and he uses his vision to see down field blocks as they develop. Thomas needs more
time however, as his routes and blocking need help, but his added versatility as a Kick Returner makes him the top guy. He was a RB when he came to Michigan State and switched to WR with a new coach. So he is good at seeing the field and breaking tackles, but he needs improvement on all facets of being a WR. He is very raw.

Projection: 1st round

Limas Sweed - Texas

WR Profiles Limas-sweed

Height:6’3"
Weight: 215 lbs
40 time: 4.52

Pros:
-Polished
-Route Running
-Size
-Leadership

Cons:
-Wrist
-Blocking
-Concentration
-Jump Ball Situations

Sweed was the Longhorns offensive leader on the field last year, and it showed when he got injured. He is a polished
WR who runs good routes and has good size. His wrist which still isn’t 100% is a serious concern, as is his blocking
ability. What may be the most concerning, however, is that Sweed has concentration lapses on the field. He also needs
to use his size better in jump ball situations to shield the defenders from the ball. If his wrist does not provide any problems, he could be a good WR at the next level. He needs to put on a bit more weight probably, and work on the jump balls.

Projection: 1st round

James Hardy - Indiana

WR Profiles _ul_jp_fuzzy0630+Z

Height:6’5"
Weight: 217 lbs
40 time: 4.51

Pros:
-Size
-Beat the Jam
-Strength
-Wingspan

Cons:
-Off the Field
-Struggles against Bigger CB’s
-Consistency
-Raw

An extremely raw prospect that has incredible size, Hardy uses his size to shield defenders from the ball and is
extremely hard to defend against when he’s on his game. While he has the ability and measurable to escape the jam,
Hardy struggled against some of the bigger and more physical Big 10 corners. He must improve his route running and
his consistency but he has #1 WR potential. He needs to put on a bit more weight to help him consistently get off the jam at the next level, but he is pretty good at it. He has a big vert and should be unstoppable in the red zone. Has the potential to be a better version of Plaxico Burress

Projection: 1st round

Malcolm Kelly - Oklahoma

WR Profiles 2006-12-02-oklahoma

Height:6’3"
Weight: 224 lbs
40 time: 4.68

Pros:
-Leaping ability
-Long Stride
-Strength
-Size

Cons:
-Knees
-Route Running
-Raw
-Blocking

Kelly has slipped worse than any other prospect in recent days. He has gone from being in the argument for top WRs
to some asking if he’s even a Day 1 pick. His knees are a huge red flag, and while his raw abilities are nice, really need
another year of work in college. He has a long stride which makes up for his slower timed speed, and his size allows
him to go up after the ball. He was a playmaker at Oklahoma but many are now questioning that ability on the next
level. He is not fast, is a bit raw in the route running and blocking department and has injury concerns. All this said, plain and simple, he catches the ball. He does not drop passes and do to this, has a chance to be a big player in the NFL

Projection: 1st-2nd round

Stats
Year - G - Cat - Yds - TD's - YPC
2005 - 11 - 33 - 471 - 2 - 14.3
2006 - 14 - 62 - 993 - 10 - 16.0

Desean Jackson - Cal

WR Profiles Deseanjacksonqna

Height:5'9"
Weight: 169 lbs
40 time: 4.35

Pros:
-Speed
-Acceleration
-Agility
-Vision

Cons:
-Size
-Durability
-Consistency
-Focus

Jackson was considered by many to be the top WR prospect coming into this year, but I see him as another Ted Ginn
type prospect. He has elite speed, acceleration and agility, however he has serious consistency issues and focus
problems. He tends to disappear for games at a time and he gets nicked up a lot, which may force him to not be a
returner at the next level. He needs to put on size to be able to get off jams in the NFL, but since he is a small speed WR, it is going to hinder his type of game. He is great in the open field, will be a good returner and could be a good WR in the right system, but every small WR is more inconsistent than bigger WR's of the same pedigree, like Steve Smith and Santana Moss

Projection: 1st-2nd round

Stats
Year - G - Cat - Yds - TD's - YPC
2005 - 11 - 38 - 601 - 7 - 15.8
2006 - 13 - 59 - 1060 - 9 - 18.0
2007 - 12 - 65 - 762 - 6 - 11.7
TOTAL - 36 - 162 - 2423 - 22 - 15.0
