Matt Ryan - Boston College

QB Profiles MattRyan_001

Height:6’5
Weight: 224 lbs
40 time: 4.74

Pros:

-Size
-Poise
-Leadership
-Tough
-Smart
-"IT" factor
-Accuracy

Cons:
-Arm Strength
-Streaky
-Reckless Gunslinger
-Lacks some athleticism

Ryan has everything you want in a Quarterback from the shoulder pads up. He is a cerebral assassin in the pocket and
he can pick a defense apart when given the time. He is a natural born leader and can consistently be seen firing up
teammates on the sidelines. Sometimes Ryan will try and do too much and rely too much on his smarts. During games
Ryan will sometimes begin to take on a gunslinger role behind center, which leads to his higher INT numbers as well as
a lower completion percentage. If Ryan can keep his mind in the game, he has the potential to be an All-Pro QB. he has very good footwork, always getting a solid base before making a throw. He has good vision, and looks off defenders well. Reads check downs well, but sometimes goes to the check down too much.

Projection: Top 10 Pick

Joe Flacco - Delaware (D-1AA)

QB Profiles 1993e6u9

Height: 6’7
Weight: 236
40 time: 4.84

Pros:
-Best arm in class
-Athletic for his size
-Accuracy
-Size

Cons:
-Leadership
-Couldn’t beat out Tyler Palko
-Shotgun Dominant QB
-Simple Offense at Delaware

Flacco has really risen up some draft charts and for good reason. While he didn’t often expose his cannon of an arm at
Delaware, he has done so at individual workouts and it helped on his short throws with squeezing the ball into tight
coverage. There are some concerns about Flacco’s leadership abilities along with why he transferred from Pittsburgh,
but in the end Flacco was a dominant QB at the FCS level and it led to two national titles back to back. He has the size
and athletic ability to play the pro game and if he puts it all together, he may be the best QB in this class. He can throw a ball 80+ yards and is also accurate. He resembles Big Ben, he is tall, has a good arm and is athletic for his size. He is probably the most phyically gifted QB in the draft in terms of his arm, but the competition level he played at was very low. He will need some time before he dominates at the NFL level. He has a very high ceiling, but also a fairly high bust possibility.

Projection: 1st-early 2nd

Year - G - Com - Att - % - Yards - TD's - INT's
2006 - 11 - 264 - 417 - 63.3% - 2783 - 18 - 10
2007 - 15 - 331 - 521 - 63.5% - 4263 - 23 - 5
TOTAL - 26 - 595 - 938 - 63.4% - 7046 - 41 - 15

Brian Brohm - Louisville

QB Profiles Brianbrohm

Height: 6’3
Weight: 227 lbs
40 time: 4.79

Pros:
-Size
-Arm Strength
-Mechanics
-Experience
-Accuracy, Timing, Touch

Cons:
-Injuries
-Limited Upside
-Athleticism
-Leadership

Brohm is the most NFL ready QB in this draft, as he can make all the throws and has very solid mechanics. He does not
absolutely cannon the ball but he has more than enough arm strength to spare. Brohm has a few big concerns: he
underwent knee surgery in 2005 for a torn ACL, thumb surgery in 2006 for torn thumb ligaments, and just over a year
ago, shoulder surgery on his non-throwing shoulder. That is going to scare off some teams as he only played his first
full season this past year. Another big criticism of Brohm has been his lack of vocal leadership. He essentially does his
job and goes home. He needs to become more of a leader in the huddle. While Matt Ryan has more of the mental stuff of the game down, Brohm has a better arm. Brohm is accurate and can make all the throws on a football field, but in the NFL, the thing that makes a special QB is the mental aspect, and Brohm needs work in that area

Projection: 1st-2nd round

Year - G - Com - Att - % - Yards - TD's - INT's
2004 - 12 - 66 - 98 - 67.3% - 819 - 6 - 2
2005 - 12 - 207 - 381 - 54.3% - 2883 - 19 - 5
2006 - 11 - 199 - 313 - 63.5% - 3049 - 16 - 5
2007 - 12 - 308 - 473 - 65.1% - 4024 - 30 - 12

Chad Henne - Michigan

QB Profiles Chad-henne-448

Height: 6’3
Weight: 228 lbs
40 time: 5.18

Pros:
-Arm Strength
-Durable
-Leadership
-Build
-Pedigree

Cons:
-Accuracy
-Locks On to Targets
-Mobility
-Mechanics not perfect

Henne has the physical tools to be a NFL starter in this league, but his lack of accuracy shows that he’ll need some
time. Henne comes from a Michigan program which has historically groomed good NFL QBs, and most recently
produced a top NFL QB in Tom Brady. Henne is a leader on the field, and has the size to be a successful NFL QB.
However, he cannot move all that well if the pocket breaks down and his footwork can get sloppy in the pocket. If a
team can tweak his mechanics and improve his accuracy, they will have a real find on their hands. He was a 4 year starter at a big time program, so he has a lot of experience playing big time football. He has a good mix of a good arm and mentality, but both can use a little work

Projection: 2nd round

Year - G - Com - Att - % - Yards - TD's - INT's
2004 - 12 - 240 - 399 - 60.2% - 2743 - 25 - 12
2005 - 12 - 223 - 382 - 58.4% - 2526 - 23 - 8
2006 - 13 - 203 - 328 - 61.9% - 2508 - 22 - 8
2007 - 10 - 162 - 278 - 58.3% - 1938 - 17 - 9
TOTAL - 47 - 828 - 1387 - 59.7% - 9715 87 - 37

John David Booty - USC

QB Profiles John-david-booty-usc-trojans

Height: 6’3
Weight: 218 lbs
40 time: 4.82

Pros:
-Smart
-Progressions
-Mechanics
-Pro style offense

Cons:
-Accuracy
-Arm strength
-Injury History
-Decision Making

Booty is a very smart and a polished QB. He has very refined mechanics and he totally understood Pete Carroll’s complex offensive system. His mechanics are great and he works through his progressions well. However, his accuracy on passes gets worse as they get longer and his arm strength is not NFL caliber. He also has huge durability concerns and his decision making needs work. If he can get in a West Coast Offense he could come in and play pretty quickly. He is very smart. He may be the safest pick at QB in the draft, but on the flip side, he does not have a huge ceiling.

Projection: 3rd-4th round

Year - G - Com - Att - % - Yards - TD's - INT's
2003 - 5 - 7 - 14 - 50% - 90 - 0 - 0
2004 - 0 - 0 - 0 - 0% - 0 - 0 - 0
2005 - 11 - 27 - 42 - 64.3% - 327 - 3 - 2
2006 - 13 - 269 - 436 - 61.7% - 3347 - 29 - 9
2007 - 10 - 215 - 340 - 63.2% - 2361 - 23 - 10
TOTAL - 39 - 518 - 832 - 62.3% - 6125 - 55 - 21
